2016 ORPA Upland Hunt Challenge

Sunday March 6th Ohio Rifle & Pistol Association held the 5th annual ORPA Upland Hunt Challenge. Pictured above is Jake Ziegler, Chip Hopkins and Chip’s lab Brut. They had an outstanding performance and won 1st in the flushing class.

Sunday March 6th Ohio Rifle & Pistol Association held the ORPA Upland Hunt Challenge. Picture above Hayden Tiell, Stan Sayre with Pepper they won 1st place in the pointing class.

Pictured above Mike Riley left, & Tim Riley right they took 2nd place in the flushing class with Tim’s dog Banker. Their performance nearly won them a first place but fell a few seconds behind 1st.

The 2013 Second Annual ORPA Hunt Challenge

Ohio Rifle & Pistol Association held their 2nd Annual Hunt Challenge this past October at Brier Oak Hunt Club near Bellevue Ohio. Trophies for the top three in Flushing Class and top three in the Pointing Class were awarded. For the Hunt Challenge four birds were place in a grass field with the hunters having a twenty minute time limit to hunt. Scoring was a combination full or partial retrieves, number of birds in hand, shells used and time. The weather was nice and the event ran well. ORPA's 2014 Hunt Challenge is planned for March 2014. The 2012 ORPA Two-Gun Pheasant Challenge

The Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association held their first ever Hunt Challenge this past October at Brier Oak Hunt Club near Bellevue, Ohio. ORPA rewarded trophies for the top three in Flushing Class and for the top three in the Pointing Class.


For the Hunt Challenge, four birds were placed in a grass field and the hunters received a twenty minute time limit to hunt. Scoring was a combination of full and partial retrieves, the number of birds in hand, the shells used and the time. The weather was nice and the event ran well. Next year a youth category is being considered. To be placed on a contact list for the 2013 Hunt Challenge please contact Don Hunter.
