Ohio is the hub of one of the largest competitive pistol shooting areas in the country.
The Pistol Division of the ORPA annually hosts an outdoor Bullseye Championship at Canton-McKinley Rifle and Pistol Club in Akron as well as an Indoor Championship at one of the finest indoor ranges in the area at Oak Harbor Conservation Club, just a few miles from Camp Perry. In addition, ORPA hosts the Governor's Trophy Tournament. In 2000, the ORPA added an International Pistol Championship at the Ohio State University range in Columbus.
In 2005 the ORPA began a Junior Pistol Program and in 2006, under leadership of Director Fred Totts, the Ohio Junior Pistol Team became the National Junior Champion Team at the NRA National Matches.
From the shores of Lake Erie to the Ohio River, Ohio is a virtual Competitive Pistol Shooters' paradise. Throughout the year, it is hard to find more than a couple weeks without a match somewhere in the state at a local club. If Pistol is your strong suit, check out our schedule of events and join us at one of our matches.
