Junior Pistol
Junior Pistol runs a parallel to the adult pistol Program, however as the title implies this is for junior shooters.
Overview
Junior Pistol runs a parallel to adult pistol, however as the title implies this is for juniors shooters. The shooters must be between the ages of 13 and 20 and must be accompanied by a parent at all times during matches and while on the Canton McKinley Rifle and Pistol Club grounds. We focus on the fundamentals of bullseye/precision pistol shooting. Our training is held each Monday evening at Canton McKinley Rifle and Pistol Club and is held year round. We are allowed use of the indoor range by the club as well as the outdoor range. We concentrate on range commands, courses of fire necessary and basic form/fundamentals to develop a solid shooting technique / platform enabling the junior shooter to eventually compete at a national level. Our hope being ORPA is able to field at least one junior team of four shooters annually at The National Matches currently held at Camp Perry Ohio. Our juniors also are expected to attend and participate in the outdoor regional pistol match held at Canton McKinley Rifle and Pistol club and the outdoor pistol matches sponsored by the Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association.
Equipment
At this stage there is no equipment necessary, ORPA has sufficient equipment to allow the new shooters to try most of what is available on the market before making a decision/purchase of their own.
